TimeLord
An App to Help You Rest Well
The Brief
Discover a problem that holds Heather back and design a solution to it.
Problem: Heather is an insomniac. Her greatest frustration is the sense of lost productivity she has during the time she is unable to sleep.
Solution: Design an app that allows Heather to progress towards a goal in the time she is unable to sleep.
The Deliverable: An interactive POP prototype.
Time: 20 hours
My role: UX Generalist
Tools I Used: Interviewing, affinity mapping, ideating, sketching, paper prototyping, InVision.

Where the interview took place
Getting to know the user
The process began with a casual, generative interview.
Key Insights into Heather:
Hometown: Austin
Hobbies: puzzles, cooking, music
Habits: task lists, walks dog, coffee drinker
Storyboard to capture how TimeLord could help Heather
Triangulate the Problem
Tools I used:
Affinity mapping
Story boarding
Insights:
Heather’s main pain point: her sense of lost time and lack of progress while she is not sleeping
Ultimately, it was this feeling of stagnation that I needed to design for.

Deliberate and generate
Tools I used:
Pen and paper
Paper wireframes for iPhone X
Rapid sketching allowed me to:
Quickly visualize flows
Immediately identify gaps and issues
Seek feedback in real time

The paper prototype
After sketching my solution, I created a clickable paper prototype in InVision. This took the user through a simple user flow whereby they resumed a session on Chanting and rated it.

Validate and elevate
After validating my design solution with users using the POP prototype, I created wireframes of a few key screens using Sketch.
